7th and 8th grade continue to perfect their expression of depth (space) by using Linear Perspective. Linear perspective is a technique in drawing that uses lines converging to a point (the vanishing point) located on the horizon. Students learn how to create depth in their cityscapes by using this technique along with overlapping, making objects in the background appear smaller than objects in the foreground, and placement of objects on the paper. Students also get the opportunity to express their creativity through colour, subject matter (they may put people, animals, cars, etc. in the drawing) and details.
Sixth grade has just completed an artwork using the media of chalk pastels. The learning target for this assignment was to create an artwork that used symmetrical balance, organic shapes, contrasting colours and value.
For the upcoming project we will be working with radial balance and doing a mandala. (see cool art links and videos on how to create a mandala). Students will use radial balance/radial symmetry to create a unique artwork using lines, patterns, colour and value. |
What did I miss?Keep up to date/review concepts, techniques and skills we've been learning in class.
